My name is Alexi, and I am the creator of Hooey Doodles. Becoming an artist wasn’t exactly on my bucket list—until my father, a talented abstract artist, passed away in 2023. It felt like his creative torch was handed to me, and I just had to run with it. Though where he used a collections of materials and paints, I traded those for a tablet and stylus. He had made his living for decades as an artist, and I started to wonder why I couldn’t do the same thing. The dream though is coming true, and every swipe of the stylus feels like a nod to my dad and a reminder that art runs in the family—even if mine is pixel-powered. Since making the shift to becoming an artist, I’ve been juggling rideshare driving, dog sitting, and an ever-growing collection of odd jobs to bring this dream to life. It turns out that in order to make a dream like becoming an artist come true, you’ve got to collect a wide range of lines for the resume.
